It would be nice if this “do nothing”Government stopped wasting money on more Studies to fill already creaking DOT Bookshelves and actually built something transportwise.
Continuing to say transport projects will not proceed unless the Feds pay will not wash . In the first instance get on with building the Metro tunnel before wasting more money on more studies .

      Dear David,

The first step to building something such as this is a detailed feasibility study. This is in contrast to the previous government which “did nothing” in regards to the Rowville rail line even though it promised a study before the 1999, 2002 and 2006 elections.

The Coalition Government has a mandate to complete this study as it was an election commitment that the voters ratified with their vote.

      Kind Regards,
      Steve

    Tram line option

I am of the view a Tram line can do the job at a better cost and quicker than the Railway line. Has this option been looked at as part of the overall feasibility study of providing a reliable transport from Huntingdale to Rowville.

I would look at the strengths and opportunities comparing both options in cost, time to complete project and community benefits.

Why was a tram/ light rail line or elevated elevated express bus service not considered? Its elevated roads could be reused in the future for the train as planned, once the congestion is resolved. This system has worked well in Brisbane recently.
Maybe its too Hilly for a tram to run smoothly but the busses would be more flexible for future extension to Lysterfield too.

If you have to build an elevated express bus service then it would be far cheaper to build a tram line throught the middle of Wellington Road.

Please build the Monash station overground, an underground station would have 0 views.

Its a very wide industrial corridor, i dont think people will complain if the Monash station was overground!!!

I do believe that a Light Rail/Tram Service is suffice for the Rowville line. To graft more services on to the Dandenong line would be unfair and could not be accomodated at the moment without additional capacity. In fact if the Alamein line was converted to light rail, it would be easier to extend that line to Chadstone, freeing more paths for the Burnley group of lines and that line could connect up with the Rowville line. Make it into a Eastern Suburbs Light Rail (ESLR).
